Hand Crafted Beaded Jewellery
Wampum were the original beads used by the Native American long before the white man came to their land. The beads were made from the ends of shells which were rubbed down, polished and threaded on strings and used for decoration and symbolic purposes.
For centuries beads have been used by all races to adorn themselves, decorate their bags and clothes, and to make ornaments to amuse and delight people of all ages. Today there seems to be an endless choice of colours and shapes but the basic bead remains the same as it was all those years ago.
Although this catalogue shows you detailed pictures of our beadwork it is impossible to show how tactile these items are, the difference in the feel between beads made from pearls, crystal gemstones, glass or wood, or the way the light catches the facets of the bead – this you will have to imagine.
All our beadwork is completely handmade, either on a loom or with needle and thread and is surprisingly time-consuming, but the end result is something unique and timeless.
